Macbook Pro A1286 New Battery

Good afternoon

I have a Macbook Pro A1286 Late 2008, which has an access door that allows me to remove the battery in case of damage or long time storage and that same battery as seen better days, meaning that I need to replace it and I would like to do it with an original new one.

Apple stopped producing replacement parts for the models considered "vintage" or obsolete, which means I'll hardly be able to find an original battery on the official Apple sellers/resellers, unless on the official Apple assistance and even there, it should be very difficult...

After all these years, having I the possibility of purchasing a "new and sealed" original battery, announced by a private seller on olx, where can I ascertain and verify the veracity of his claims, regarding the originality of the battery through an Apple Parts Serial No. search engine, or some site, as Apple once did with the battery replacement eligibility and others, under Apple's warranty..??!!

I have some emergency in resolving this issue...

Greetings from Portugal

Thanks for your quick reply OGELTHORPE...

Do you think that in this case, because the battery was purchased a few years ago, and not in use, could be in "bad shape" or not charge at all, because is lithium-ion based...??!!

Your reply made me some concerns...!!

The battery is packaged, like every other new one that used to be sold at the official Apple Stores, but because their not being sold anymore, it's very difficult to find and even by a new one...and in Portugal there aren't official Apple Stores, only official sellers or resellers...

What more concerns should I have...?!

The battery most likely will charge an will power the MBP, but not as well as a new battery. There are a number of variables involved so I cannot give you a clear cut answer. Read this and you will understand why:

Batteries are the most inconsistent component in a MBP.

Ciao.

OGELTHORPE the ad is Here

Afterwards I found this Page that refers to Serial Nos. but not for replacement parts, is there any other way, search engine, website that allows searching the Serial No. of replacement parts??!!

I would like to try it with my original battery...sorry for the "insistence" in the matter... 😀 😝
