How to Remove - com.adobe.ARMDCHelper.cc24 -----

After running Etrecheck..... I find that com.adobe.ARMDCHelper.cc24 ---- etc..... shows that it is failing..... I don't know what it is, or to remove it. I have checked Macintosh HD - Library, and System Library.... looking for that item in Launch Daemons, and Launch Agents.

I have run Malware Bytes Anti-Malware, and nothing comes up there....

Is there a way to remove that item?

Thanks,

Jim

I had previously tried that, and just tried it again.... there are no items that come up in the Launch Agents...

and the Launch Daemons, it shows

com.adobe.ARMDC.Communicator.plist

com.adobe.ARMDC.SMJobBlessHelper.plist

com.adobe.fpsaud.plist

com.apple.installer.osmessagetracing.plist

com.malwarebytes.MBAMHelperTool.plist

com.microsoft.office.licensing.helper.plist

com.oracle.java.JavaUpdateHelper.plist

No item named ---- com.adobe.ARMDCHelper.cc24... etc

Also the EtreCheck shows that item is in... "Other Apps"...... I have checked all the Apps, and cannot find it there.

This is not a job for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac, as it's not malware or adware.

There may or may not be an issue with a component of Adobe Creative Cloud on your machine... it's hard to say what a "failed" label means in Etrecheck. If you're having a problem with Creative Cloud, you may want to consider reinstalling it. If you're not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hello Neophutos,

The best thing to do with an EtreCheck report is post the entire report. Any individual item, regardless of colour, may not have much meaning. The EtreCheck report is designed to display a snapshot of the overall health of your machine. You probably shouldn't remove something just because it is failing. Instead, use the EtreCheck report to find out why it is failing and correct that problem. Often, the items on an EtreCheck report that you do need to remove are scamware or antivirus software that show up in green.

Property lists use XML--if you open the plist in a text editor you can get the location of the binary executable. All the plist does is tell the computer to launch this process, the plist itself isn't an application or binary executable.

EtreCheck has its uses but take what it reports with a grain of salt and not an absolute. If you're having an issue with Adobe software your best resource will be Adobe's support website. If you're not having an issue with Adobe's software then ignore what EtreCheck reports.

May 12, 2016 7:19 AM in response to chroot

Hello chroot,

Properly lists haven't used plain XML in years. Most text editors cannot open them.

EtreCheck just reports what it finds. If some software fails to run, then EtreCheck will report its launch daemon as failed. That fact is not the problem, it is the symptom. The problem is something else. Ignoring the symptom is just ignoring the problem. I am not a big user of Adobe software so it may be normal for this launch daemon to fail. I don't know. There could be other items listed in the EtreCheck report that could indicate what is causing the problem. Again, I don't know because I haven't seen it. Unless this is a problem well-known by Adobe, people in the Adobe support website might very well ask for an EtreCheck report too.
