Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Can I purchase a customized macbook pro and pay for it in store?

I am looking to buy my first ever macbook pro. I was planning on customizing as opposed to purchasing a stock model. I know you have to order online, so my question is: Can you order a customized macbook pro online and then pay for it in store? My mum has agreed to pay for half of it so I was wondering if it were possible to do what I am asking. I did go into the store and I was told that payment could be split but I was unable to ask the other question that I am asking on here. Also could a student discount be used on buying a customized macbook or is that only for stock versions? Sorry if this is the wrong community to post to.

If you have an arrangement for your mum to pay half, that should not

be considered in how you will pay the retail price at an Apple Store or

through a custom order online to be delivered to an Apple Store or an

authorized Apple reseller (independent) business.

To get a computer shipped to you, or to the store for you from Apple

that is a custom order, the page(s) I cited say that you are to pay for

the item before it would be shipped. Per the above post, note:

Whether or not you pay or your mum pays, these reseller outlets usually

expect to get a full amount when due; so to be sure we aren't mixing up

more than one question. Anyway, ask the official sources... If you are in

the USA or where Official Apple retail Stores exist, and also, where an

online Official Apple store exists; then you may talk to both to see what

if anything they can work out for you. The policies for Apple Inc are in

their web site. You may have other rights depending on where you are,

but their delivery and sales are fairly standard; & I copy-pasted from the

official Apple site into my first reply.

An official Apple retail Store may be able to get the build model you seek

and perhaps (ask manager) if deposit is required for them to take an order

where it'd go to their Store; where you could pick up &/or pay balance due.

The usual path, indicated in their printed/online info, is you pay in advance.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

You will have to attend to the matter in person. Or direct your attentions to

the active links provided, or in the Apple site - contact sales support, for

a specific set of official answers beyond what you can find on-site in print.

From what I read, in the sources cited, you are expected to pay for a custom

or built-to-order product when you place the order. There also may be different

return or refund policies when the product is CTO, if you change your mind and

if the product was special ordered. And when the 'store' is not an Official Retail
Apple Store, other rules apply; where those are independent authorized resellers.

An official store manager may be able to help you resolve an issue, if you order

from the store and have a custom order shipped to there. Any other details that

may be afforded by consideration in a retail environment would need discussed

there; since I am not in a position to suggest a specific cure, arrange a deal, as

an individual who is an unpaid volunteer, a fellow user, or a peer-to-peer helper.

So that wraps things up, from my perspective.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

If the store is an official retail Apple Store, and not an authorized Apple reseller (an independent)

you could see if the online order system in your region or country allows the delivery option for

the items you purchase online to be delivered to an Apple Store nearest you.

Hopefully you can order & pay for the products online and get the student discount, with shipping

to a nearest official retail Apple Store for pickup. This may vary in countries & regions that may

not have an official Apple Store present. - There may be authorized Apple resellers who can get a

custom build model (or one of the specs you may seek, as seen in the online Store) for you, too.

Official Apple Stores and online Apple Store, have different return policies than 'independent' resellers.

From what I can tell by reading this topic, the expected sale and delivery would need to be pre-paid.

This topic may be discussed with a Store manager to see if there is a way to have an exception.

In any event...

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
