Q: How to update OsX Lion 10.7?

I have a MacBookPro OsX Lion 10.7.5 I get messages saying there will soon be no more access to google chrome and safari features, but when I try to update I am told my system is too old. What should I do? Should i instal OsX El Capitan or something else? Thanks.

Your Mac is capable of running El Capitan - Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support . Your issue is not related to hardware, but the OS X version being old. If you upgrade to Yosemite or El Capitan, you can run newer versions of Chrome and Safari.

Thanks, Loner. I've heard that el capitan can be dodgy - can i still download yosemite somewhere - and would this solve the problem (without creating too many more)?

Check the App Store under the top left Apple icon and check availability. You can also try and ask for the installer of specific version from other people who have Macs.
