Q: Wifi & Cellular Data Connection is not working properly

Dear,

I'm using iPhone 6s, 64GB, 2GB RAM mobile bought online in SOUQ.com Saudi Arabia. I'm using it with STC Net sim. Since a week or more my Mobile Data Network connection is not working properly and since the first day i bought my handset, my WiFi connection very bad.

In my Office or Home while trying to connect to my Wifi, i cannot find my Router name in the scanned name list but at the same time i can find it in my SAMSUNG NOTE II mobile. This happens only to my mobile while in my in my Office too. Sometimes it shows but most of the time i cannot find my WiFi!

Because of this issue i'm not able to Backup to iCloud.

Regarding the Mobile Data connection since a week while opening WhatsApp, everytime it refreshes and takes long time time re connect. Also i cannot find LTE option in my settings.

Please help me out in this how to resolve this issue.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.1, null

Take a look at this Apple Support article:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204051

    Reset your network settings.

Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings

Reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

    • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
    • Press and hold on the Home button
    • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. Some of them can help with Mobile also. Suggest starting from the top and working down.

    1) Perform a Forced Restart:  Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Allow device to restart.

    2) Reset Network Settings:  Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

    3) Reboot Router/Modem:  Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band).

    4) Change to Google's DNS:  Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

    5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available.

    6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

    7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

    8) Restore the Device (ask for additional for details if desired).

          https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252

    9) Go to an Apple Store for hardware evaluation.

    Hi!

Once again Thank you. For your information two of my colleagues using iPhone 6, and for them the WiFi i'm trying to connect is already connected but for me even i cannot find the Network name though i scanned many times. If i restart the router, i can able to connect but for a short period only (i.e. 30 to 60 Minutes).

You are welcome....  Did you try the restore? It could fix the problem. If so, you may have a hardware issue and may have to have the Apple Store test it.

It is sounding a bit like you may be experiencing hardware issues here. You don't have some crazy bulky case on your phone, do you? Try a restore/update (9.3.2 is presently out fixing the world) like elcpu suggested, and if these problems still persist, see about contacting Apple Support by Genius Bar or by their phone or chat support available to you for free. Your phone is in warranty, so there is no problem there, but be patient with them as they will want to make sure that going through the effort of shipping or replacing at the bar will not be a complete waste of your time as there may be something else at play here.

I can't tell you how many posts I have seen on this forum where someone was complaining about getting a new phone with the same problem, but refused to restore their phone as new to try and isolate/remove the issue.

Also, when you got your new phone, you aren't using an existing SIM that you had been using with another phone, are you? That tends to be a mess with phones these days as they are an assignment of service relevant to the phone to which they are inserted. Your iPhone has visual voicemail (carrier service specific to iPhone) and your other phones do not, for example. This doesn't relate to your WiFi issue, but your cell service may simply be unrelated, and coincidentally, you are having separate issues.

    Things to consider. Good Luck!
