How Well Would El Captain run on my System?

Hello,

I Have a 2009 upgraded to a 2010 Mac Pro. One Six Core, 32GB Ram, 2X Samsung 512GB SSDs for system only mounted on a PCIe card, NVIDIA GTX 760 video card and 3X 3TB HD's for storage and a USB3 PCIe card. I still use my 23" Apple Cinema Display (aluminum).

I Use Adobe Suite CS6 (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Acrobat), Lightroom, FC Pro, Compressor, Suite Case Fusion, Microsoft Word.

Right now, I have dual boot (Mavericks and Yosemite).

I also use 2 external Time machines, one for each system.

Thanks in advance

El Cap may be more stable than Yosemite, it is for me. But there may be some issue with CS6, particularly with Illustrator. That being said it works for most, though it is no longer supported by Adobe and was never supported by Apple. If you run into issue they won't help and likely Adobe will pressure you into buying Cloud which is what they do now.

Back up your computer ASAP

upgrade to 10.11.4

upgrade CS6 though Photoshop (Help>Check for Updates...)

if you are prompted to install Java use this

Download Java for OS X 2015-001

if the application will not run try either reseting the application preferences

while SHIFT+CMD+OPT+ALT click the Application Icon for PS, AI, ID, etc and you will be prompted to reset the preference file (if you try on a doc icon or shortcut it won't work, t need to be the original)

if that does not work create a new adminstrative account, boot to that account, relaunch CS

if that does not work uninstall with the Adobe Cleaning Tool

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems. html

and then reinstall the application in an administrative account.

if it works after the upgrade you won't need to but when if it freaks out clean reinstall seems to rectify it.

I'm supporting a group of users on the iMac glossy displays 27" with external monitors which have more of a matte finish. The production work is exclusively on the glossy screens for their choosing, the externals have been given for palettes and non production software. Apple still makes a very good display and calibration is easy, not perfect without 3rd party software but close enough for Rock and Roll was we say in IT, or maybe the band I was in when we forgot to bring a tuner.
