Q: Compressor 4 vs adobe media encoder

There were a lot of studies have been done and some of them very detailed. So many numbers out there and different situations, but I would like to know the bottom line, what do editors prefer Adobe or Apple. The are mixed reviews in the Apple application store. Online at adobe place some people say the quality is almost the same Blue Ray to DVD, but its faster process is with Adobe Media Encoder.

Thanks,

Results will vary depending on what quality/format you put in, and the settings for what you get out of it.  There is no definitive data to prove one is better than the other.  Compressor interfaces with Apple's pro apps, Media Encoder interfaces with Adobe apps.   I guess you'd pick one based on the apps you use.  Either way it is a very subjective question with no definitive answer.

    Thanks.

Mainly I am using for Blu Ray DVD. I wonder what quality I would get using FPX for making BluRay DVD.It doesn't have as many settings as compressor, but using the same ones, will I get a similar quality?

    Thanks,

Yes, you'll get the same quality.  Yes, Apple's Blu-Ray and DVD support is minimal as far as making customized menus and features.  But as for encoding quality, same all the way around.
