May 15, 2016 7:21 PM in response to Meg The Dogby John Kernan,So I've tried this but I'm still missing many thumbnails. Any other thoughts?
Thanks.

May 15, 2016 8:35 PM in response to John Kernanby Meg The Dog,Has the media itself for the clip(s) gone off-line? You might be seeing render files in the canvas even if the file itself is off-line.
If you park the playhead on one of these problematic clips in the timeline and type the F key to match frame to the source monitor, does the video appear there?
If the source files are OK you might try trashing your preferences:
When FCP begins to act in an unexpected way, the usual first step is to trash the FCP Preferences.
Download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) and it will do all the heavy lifting for you:
https://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Run it, and the next time you launch FCP your preference will be reset to default settings.

May 16, 2016 5:39 PM in response to Meg The Dogby John Kernan,Well that was the answer. I spent a lot of time reconnecting and it should be ok. Thank you.
But there's a new wrinkle the is perhaps a result of trashing the preferences. The titles, made in Boris, are not stationary and can't be moved around the frame. This has never happened before.
And by the way, you've helped me on other occasions. Thanks for them too.
