USA/UK watch compatibility

Hi,

a friend has offered to get me an apple watch when she goes to the USA soon as she thinks that they may be cheaper than buying one in the UK???? So my first question is.......are they cheaper to buy in the USA?? Secondly, I don't know if there will be any compatibility issues using it in theUK. 😕

Any advice would be much appreciated.😊

Thanks

Hard to say really. Prices in the U.S are generally without Tax, and tax needs to be added at moment of purchase, and varies by state.

You also have to consider shipping costs and import tax differences in the U.S and the U.K.

Look in the online Apple stores for the U.S, and U.K for the watch you want and compare pricing.

As for compatibility, the watch is the same one everywhere. You will need to get a plug adapter for u.k wall sockets so you can plug the charger in though.

Keep in mind, you need to pair it with an iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9 or later.

To clarify: to pair Apple Watch, you will need an iPhone 5 or later running the latest version of iOS (so install any available update on your iPhone 6 before pairing your new watch).

and of course the issue of warrantee coverage

Hi Sheryl

There would be no warranty coverage issue.

Under Apple's One Year Limited Warranty, a watch purchased in the US would still be eligible for hardware repair service in the UK.

If you also wish to buy AppleCare+, in order for the benefits to be available to you in the UK, this insurance product would need to be purchased from Apple in the UK. It can be purchased (in the UK) up to 60 days from the watch's original date of purchase in the US.

AppleCare+ can be purchased by taking the watch to an Apple Retail Store or by calling Apple on 0800 107 6285 (a remote diagnostic and proof of purchase are required).
