Q: add recovered podcast episode to itunes

I subscribe to a podcast_1 where content is stored in iTunes\iTunes Media\Podcasts\directory_1

I have previous episodes of podcast_1 in directory_2.

I have copied the previous episodes from directory_2 to directory_1, but the previous episodes are not in the iTunes listing.

How do I re-register the previous episodes so that they appear in iTunes listing and can be copied to my iPhone?

iPhone 5, Windows 10, null

iTunes doesn't scan the media folder for content. If you have restored files then you also need to add the iTunes library using drag & drop, add file/folder to library, etc. If you add podcast files to iTunes from the file system then it may sometimes recognize that they belong to a podcast and organize them accordingly, other audio files may be treated as music and video files as home movies. You can change the media kind if needed once you have located the imports.
