Q: iBank information

I am currently using Quicken PC version for my banking/checkbook data. I now also have a Mac but quicken for mac is not well received. Is the iBank program compatible with quicken data from a PC to Mac?  The iBank site says it is... thanks..

    Several years ago I copied my Windows Quicken data to my Mac and then used iBank (recently renamed to Banktivity) to convert it to their program. It worked very well (and they have very good customer support if you do have a problem with the conversion or anything else).

    Actually the day I bought the Mac, I stopped at Best Buy and bought the newest version of Quicken for Mac. Problems from the start. The program didn't download the data correctly and the home screen was all scribbles. I called Quicken,apple,the apple forum and everything I read said that Apple dropped the ball when it came to Quicken or quicken did... I returned the product  (Quicken didn't offer any help) and have been using my Dell for my banking/checking data ever since. I did see the iBank app but I could not tell if that program with download the PC version to the Mac. I have asked around but did not get a reply until now. I will again take a look see. Perhaps contact their customer support with this question. Thank You for the valuable info. I have always used the Dell forums and they have been very helpful. I have learned a lot. Now I will attack the Apple forums and keep up on the learning process. YOU, and others, have certainly shown the true spirit of these forums... Thanks again.    Java

    Thanks for the fast reply.. And I did buy the newest version of Quicken for Mac but had problems with it. Nobody seem to help. My problem was the conversion of the PC version to the Mac version. At the time I tried to get support but was unable to remedy the problem. Daughter in law uses iBank and she thought that program would convert between the two versions. I thank you and will check out the link you provided.. Thanks again.     Java

    As I stated in my reply above, iBank (recently renamed to Banktivity) will convert data from Quicken for Windows. I've done it and it worked well. If you download their software from their website rather than from the Mac App Store, they offer a 30 day free trial. You can do the conversion of the Quicken data before you commit to buying Banktivity. https://www.iggsoftware.com/banktivity/trial.php

    That is because the so-called Quicken for Mac 2015 and 2016 are really updates of the generally loathed Quicken Essentials for Mac and NOT an update of the more robust Quicken 2007 for Mac.

     

    You can still purchase Quicken 2007 for Lion for $15 from the Chat function of the Quicken support website and it will run in Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite and El Capitan.

     

    It has substantially all of the features of Quicken for PC.  I have been using it for years!
