Q: File Sharing is slower than expected (possibly) caused by smb version
Hi, I'm currently using a smb shared disk named 'WD' from my router, and the expected speed is above 60Mb/s tested by another PC.
But my macbook seems to be clamped by some limitation to a relatively constant of 27Mb/s.
When I ran:
$ smbutil statshares -m /Volumes/WD
I get:
================================================================================ ==================
SHARE ATTRIBUTE TYPE VALUE
================================================================================ ==================
WD
SERVER_NAME 192.168.0.1
USER_ID 501
SMB_NEGOTIATE AUTO_NEGOTIATE
SMB_VERSION SMB_1
SMB_SHARE_TYPE UNKNOWN
EXTENDED_SECURITY_SUPPORTED TRUE
UNIX_SUPPORT TRUE
LARGE_FILE_SUPPORTED TRUE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------
Seems the issue is the running version of smb being "SMB_1".
So how do I change the runing version of smb?
Thanks.
PS: I searched for several answers, they all referred to delete the "~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf " 's "smb_neg=smb1_only" flag
while in my mac this file don't exist.
