My MBPro has OS X Ver 10.6.8..Is it possible to upgrade the OS?

It's impossible to tell based on the information in this thread. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu; Core Duo Macs can't be upgraded past 10.6.8, while Core 2 Duo and newer ones can be.
