New IMac, just bought it yesterday. In Photo Booth and Skype, the internal cam is showing too red and needs to back off.
Where can I find the settings for this?
Thanks.
Gina
All Mac cameras are set automatically and individually by each app that use them.
There are no system-wide camera settings in Mac OS X.
However, if you did not test your new Mac's camera in the store before you bought it, you cannot determined the real source of the problem without some testing. For example, if your desktop picture or room lighting or background has a reddish color cast, your camera simply may be recording the color of the light it sees. You can test this by trying again with different room light or desktop picture that is a different color. If necessary, you can also test in a different location.
If your camera's image is too red regardless of your lighting or location, or if you simply don't want to bother performing these tests, contact your retailer and see if he has any suggestions. You may need to take your new iMac back and ask the retailer to show you how to get the red out. Either the retailer will be able to show you how to correct the problem, or he can determine whether your new Mac requires repair or replacement.
If you find that the color of the room or your desktop picture Is the cause of the red tint but you don't want to change the desktop picture or room light, you can manually control some of your cameras parameters, including the color cast, with iGlassesadd-onsoftware. They offer a free trial so you can test whether iGlasses will correct your problem before you pay for it.
