Q: Microsoft Office 2011 locked up and out

I was working in Microsoft Word 2011 and the program shut down unexpectedly.  I have the document saved so that is not the issue.  I have tried for two days to get back into Word and it comes up with an error message and then shuts the program down automatically.  Excel and powerpoint work fine but Word will just opens, flashes the document on the screen, shows an error message and then shuts down the program.  I am trying to find my original installation CDs from 2011 to simply overwrite the program but I am traveling and trying to find a download or a patch to work through this.  Any suggestions?

    Yes.  Do as Bob suggested and post your question the Microsoft Mac forums since it's their software you're having trouble with.  These forums are for troubleshooting compatibility issues between Apple products and Windows, and not related to Office.

    When you return from your travels will need to find the install disc and get your product #, then remove the Office application.  You cannot simply overwrite it.  Also, check your Office release, it should be 14.6.4

     

    You might try the update option in your Excel or PowerPoint menu under Help and then Update Office, could work.

     

    Also, as Templeton and Bob suggest, check in at MS for Mac and describe the situation.
