Q: search bar in Time Machine does not work

I was hoping to find the finished version of my operetta's Finale, which had inexplicably disappeared from the folders. Time machine took me to the entire hard drive, would not let me click into the Dropbox portion in which I had my musicals.

Nothing can be entered into the search bar either.

It used to work, recording for many weeks in the past, then for some reason the back-ups became huge and I only got a matter of days stored before the material was overwritten.

This happened on installing El Capitan I think, with new version of Photos and a whole new storage system, which may be on the SSD instead of the external LaCie Drives I had set for data.

An Apple Tech told me there would be no further storage demands from the new Photo App but I'm afraid these El Capitan apps are using my boot drive for storing data instead of using the set-up I had done of many aliases onto the rotational drive and the firewire drives.

Anyways I sure would like to get my completed compositions back again.
