May 15, 2016 6:23 AM in response to Bpockby judysings,Hi Ben,
I'm sorry to hear that your computer has been stolen. The resources below will provide some information that may help.
With Find My Mac you can locate and protect your Mac if it is lost or stolen. To use Find My Mac, simply enable it in System Preferences. You need to have set up Find My Mac before your Mac is lost. If you believe your Mac has been stolen, contact your local law enforcement.
If you can't find your Mac
Find My Mac is the only Apple service that can help track or locate a lost Mac. If you didn’t set up Find My Mac before your Mac was lost, or you can’t locate it, these steps might help you protect your data:
- Change your Apple ID password to prevent anyone from accessing your iCloud data or using other services (such as iMessage or iTunes) from your Mac.
- Change your passwords for other accounts you use with your Mac, including email, banking, and social sites like Facebook or Twitter.
- Report your lost or stolen Mac to local law enforcement. They might request the serial number of your computer. You can find this information on the original box or receipt you received when you purchased your Mac.
Report a lost or stolen Apple product
If you have lost or found an Apple product, please contact your local law enforcement agency to report it.
You can take steps to find your lost or stolen iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac if you've enabled Find My Mac and Find My iPhone apps. Using your Find My apps allows you to put your missing device in Lost Mode, see its location, or erase its data. Other than the Find My iPhone and Find My Mac apps, there is no other Apple service that finds, tracks, or otherwise flags your device for you.

May 17, 2016 2:04 PM in response to Bpockby K Shaffer,You may be able to locate a list of products you purchased through Apple where
a history, a warranty or AppleCare would have applied, from a page such as this:
There is a link within the page, to view products, it asks you to Sign In with AppleID.
Although I'd previously been able to find a page of all my purchased items without
a separate login (while visiting ASC and already signed in) I don't see it now.
https://supportprofile.apple.com/
Hopefully you can either find old packing materials (box has barcode & serial number)
or paper trail from the date of purchase that also has the serial number.
Sorry to not be of much help...!
