Hi
You should typically be able to do so (with your US-issued card), but it may be prudent to check with your bank before travelling. (Another user recently reported that using one card account did not work on the London Underground, but selecting a different one did).
Other points to keep in mind:
- The typical (maximum) transaction limit for contactless payments (including Apple Pay) among retailers in the UK is presently £30.
- Advise your card issuer of your travel plans. Your card account may otherwise be restricted and transactions declined when you try to use it in the UK (both when using the card directly and when using via Apple Pay).
- Using your card account in the UK via Apple Pay will still incur any charges (levied by your bank / issuer) that would apply if you were instead using the payment card directly. For example: if your bank normally charges foreign exchange fees on overseas transactions, then these will still apply if you pay via Apple Pay. Fees can vary by issuer and also by payment card.
