May 14, 2016 8:56 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby Taxi4747,I cannot tell since the underside is a tad scratched up..
I am trying to install where it says Reinstall OSX on the OSX utilities.
Another thing is I cannot find any startup disks on the menu either Isn't there a way to reinstall the OS that came with it before I got it? But like I said there is no back up..
Sorry but I am unable to make it any clearer

May 14, 2016 9:05 AM in response to macjackby Taxi4747,Apple menu. Startup disk... Restart, shutdown.
If I click the tab next to it and then try to leave utilities it says to choose a startup disk but the menu to select said disk from is empty..

May 14, 2016 9:15 AM in response to Taxi4747by macjack,I see, you are stuck on Utilities Screen. It sounds like you need to reformat the drive. (But not being able to choose a Startup disk is not a good sign) Try this, choose Disk Utility and erase the drive. Then choose re-install OS X. If this does not work, then it sounds like you need a new hard drive.

May 14, 2016 9:25 AM in response to Taxi4747by macjack,Try running Apple Hardware Test, startup holding the D key. But if it an older than OS X 10.7 it will not work and you'll need the install disks it shipped with.
