I have a zip drive in journalled extended format containing OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan and need to use it to boot my iMac.
I just wiped the iMac completely.
How do I make the zip drive bootable?
Pretty scared.

I think you must mean something other than a zip drive. Is it on a USB flash drive? If so, boot your Mac while holding down the option key and select the flash drive.
