iphone SE cannot connect to itunes

I just bought an iphone se and I have the latest itunes 11.4, OS X 10.6.8 with Intel Core 2 Duo processor and when I plug my new phone in, the computer tells me to to to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of itunes, which I have. Now what?

The iPhone SE can only connect to iTunes 12.3.3. The reason your Mac is telling you that you have the latest is that you need to update the Mac to El Capitan 10.11.4 first and then update iTunes to 12.3.3 if not auto updated during the El Cap install. Otherwise you will not be able to use your SE with iTunes.

Start the Mac App Store and get the latest version or download it here:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/


Sorry, it will not work until the OP updates the Mac to OS X version 10.8.5 or later.

Technically yes - you can update - BUT with 4 GB - you do run the risk of slowing down the computer

I would instead get up to Mavericks - which would also allow you to run 12.3.3 - as elcpu notes - you need Mountain Lion or better
