iphone SE cannot connect to itunes

Open iTunes - if on a PC make sure it is version 12.3.3

Make sure you are in a good WiFi zone

Once you connect the phone to iTunes with a cable it will give you step by step instructions

The iPhone SE can only connect to iTunes 12.3.3. The reason your Mac is telling you that you have the latest is that you need to update the Mac to El Capitan 10.11.4 first and then update iTunes to 12.3.3 if not auto updated during the El Cap install. Otherwise you will not be able to use your SE with iTunes.

iTunes 10.6.8 is not the latest version, but iTunes 12.3.3 is.

Sorry, it will not work until the OP updates the Mac to OS X version 10.8.5 or later.

You are right. Sorry I mixed the iTunes and Mac versions.

Here are the general requirements for El Capitan so yes, you should be able to update but check all below.

Technically yes - you can update - BUT with 4 GB - you do run the risk of slowing down the computer

I would instead get up to Mavericks - which would also allow you to run 12.3.3 - as elcpu notes - you need Mountain Lion or better
