May 14, 2016 10:23 AM in response to sassyvby LarryHN,Until it quits working (which it will sometime in the future) in Photos while your device is mounted uncheck the box to use Photos for this device and in the iPhoto preferences set the preference for action when a camera is connected to open iPhoto which requires 9.6.1
However I suggest you learn Photos and switch to it since iPhoto is dead and some future update will drive the final stake through its heart leaving you with an emergence recovery instead of an orderly transition - plus you gain the enhanced editing and integration of Photos right away besides

Sad that apple is hurting their own brand by aggravating existing users - who just learn to use some software and oops apple drops it and changes where everything is.

Aggravating existing users? Who can continue to work as they always have? Or use any software they prefer? Just learn to use iPhoto? That's been around for 9 major versions? Since 2002? By that logic nothing would ever change. Computers would still have black screens and green text because the GUI would aggravate users who had learned to use the command line.
Apple didn't "drop" it. They announced a new product with a new capabilities with an easy migration path to it - if the user chooses to use it. Really, a bit of clueless comment.

Well if you see all glasses as half empty - if you see them as half full you would see that lack of advancement and lack of new features is what "Aggravates" users and hurts brands - by your logic we would still have cranks to star our cars - or need horses - after 14 years iPhoto needs a major revamp and it got it - and since all upgrades are optional glass half empty people simply do not upgrade since they do not want new features and they keep using the system they have that they know - simpole and trouble free

You certainly have been out of the IBM loop -- the 5250 emulators give each user the opportunity to come up with a color scheme and font choice that is unique to them - and may include definition between dark and light. Your choices without the over heavy GUI interface that can slow users down.

for you and terrance Devlin - I guess you have no problem if Apple keeps changing the keyboard layout with every release - after all QWERTY is an old layout. Bet that would aggravate you -
It has to do with continuity of design as anyone who works daily with any Photo software or any software will have difficulty with name changes to functions - and changing the locations.

It's a new app, what part of new don't you understand? It works differently, it has different aims and capabilities.
