Macbook Air (mid 20111) won't charge

I have an 11" mid 2011 with 728 cycles on the battery, and an OSX battery status of good.

No matter what I do, it just won't charge.

I have reset the SMC and PRAM multiple times, but there is no change in behavior. I have tried two different chargers, but still no difference.

Plugging in the charger I get a green light, but the battery status is 'Not charging'. Even when the light does sometimes go orange, 95% of the time, I still get the 'Not Charging' notification.

I'm wondering if the port is damaged. The two outer contacts look worn to me.

That is not a good sign. The pins on the charger that connect to the MBA are spring loaded. Do they move freely?

I suspect that you are dealing with a hardware problem. Your best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.

There are a few things to try & do, to determine if the issue has greater depth

or if the unit requires additional hardware repair if MagSafe port is damaged or

worn to point of requiring MagSafe DC-in Board, replaced re: MagSafe Boards

Sometimes it may be possible to clean the contacts in the MagSafe port and

those in the MagSafe adapter, so as to help keep a stable power connection.

Yeah it's almost as iff the metal from the centre of the two outer contacts is worn through. I can charge it on occasion if I get the angle right. Fortunately those boards aren't too expensive.
