Q: How to transfer ALL my photos from my iPhone to my Mac

I lost my Photos Library both on my internal drive and my TimeMachine which just died after getting new one a day earlier:) I acidently deleted my Photos Library off my internal drive so now I have no library.

But I still have all my photos on my iPhone and need to get them too my Mac. Photos and Image Capture only sees the iPhones  latest pictures. How can I get them off my iPhone. I assume there must be some kind of app.

iMac 27" 2012, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 1TB Fusion Drive

Do you currently have the iCloud Photo Library turned on or off no your phone? You can tell by connecting your phone to your computer, opening Image Capture, and checking to see if there is an iCloud icon next to your phone's name on the left hand column.

That is quite alright. Typically, this is a matter of the computer not getting the full information from the phone, or the phone not providing it to the computer. I would try the following:

    • Restart both the iPhone, and the computer by fully powering them off and back on again.
    • Re-launch the Photos app in OS X while holding down the Option Key, and continue holding the option key down until you see a Choose Library... window
    • Choose "Create New..." and then click save
    • Check to see if all pictures are being recognized for import. If not, confirm this is also the case in Image Capture.
    • If you still cannot access your photos at this point, open iTunes, click on your phone icon at the top left corner, and then click on Photos under the Settings on the lefthand side. If Sync Photos is checked, then you will not be able to import your pictures from the phone using Image Capture or Photos and will need to look for a third party program.
    • If Sync Photos is not checked, then I would say contact AppleCare at 800-275-2275 for further assistance.

Thanks for your reply but I have found the way. There's a application on the Mac App Store and the App Store called Photo Transfer App. It costs $299 and worked perfectly. You need to download the Mac and iPhone versions. The Mac version is free but it needs the iPhone version to communicate with. Worth every penny.
