Can someone help. I know this is probably simple stuff for some but not for me! I have a new iphone 6 plus and would like to transfer photos in "photos" from my macbook pro to the new phone. I have tried to get them into itnes but with no luck My macbook is a late 2012 with Yosemite. Hope someone can help.

You can keep your Phone and Mac in total sync using iCloud Photo Library so all changes (additions, deletions or edits) made on any device are made on al devices -- iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support
Or you can sync selected photos using iTunes Sync - Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes using USB - Apple Support -- Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes using Wi-Fi - Apple Support
