Deleting Music From iPad

To free up storage on my iPad mini, I deleted all my music from it using this method:

-SETTINGS

-GENERAL

-STORAGE AND ICLOUD USAGE

-MANAGE STORAGE

This brought up a list of my apps and the storage each had. "MUSIC" was at the top of my list indicating that it was the app taking up the most storage. I tapped "MUSIC" and deleted all the songs. However, they are still on my iPad.

I have multiple devices on the same wireless network...could it be that the music on those devices (iPad 2, iPod Touch 5, iPod Nano, iPhone 4s; the same music was still on those) did some kind of automatic sync?

But there is this: In MANAGE STORAGE one song is listed. But when I tap the MUSIC icon/app on the home screen, the entire music library that I deleted is still there and I have no more storage space on my iPad now than I did before taking action to free it up. Do I have to go into MUSIC from the home screen and delete them one-by-one? And why is only one song appearing in MANAGE STORAGE, with no option to delete it?

HI there Toadywot,

It sounds like you used the Manage Storage section of your iPad to delete your music but it still seems to be on the device. I would start by quitting the Music, and the Settings apps:

Force an app to close in iOS

1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that force restart the device and test the issue again:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as from your backup as the data may need to be reset.

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

Hello Sterling....I tried all your suggestions but they failed to fix the problem. I got disgusted, erased iPad and set it up as a new device.

ANd yes, I used the Manage Storage to delete the music.....that's the only way I know, was I not supposed to do that? Is there another way?

Is it possible that my other devices (iPhone 4s, iPad 2, iPod Touch 5, iPod Nano 7) are interfering somehow?
