Q: the iPhone can't be used because it requires new version though my phone and mac are upto date

the iPhone can't be used because it requires new version. my iPhone and mac are upto date can any one tell me how to resolve this issue

Make absolutely sure your Mac's OS X and iTunes software is up to date > How to update OS X and Mac apps

For iTunes
Open iTunes.
From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose iTunes > Check for Updates.
Follow the prompts to install the latest version.

both my iphone 6s and itunes are upto date ( itunes 10.2.2 , iphone 6s ios 9.3.1 and mac os x 10.7.5

iOS 9.3.1 requires iTunes 12.3, which in turn requires OS 10.8.5 or higher.
