Need help using 2 Apple ID's

I have an Apple ID and I now use it on my Mac, my iPhone 5S and my husbands iPhone 5S. I set him up with his own ID but things went crazy with us seeing everything the other one was sending/receiving and all devices ringing with calls, facetime etc.... So I went back to using just my ID.

I would like to try it again with your help. What I want to do is for him to have his ID so he can

- turn his FaceTime on

- turn his iMessages on

- so he can use his iTunes on his PC to back up his mobile and put his music on it

I want to be able to do the same with my ID but I do not want us to share anything except for him to be able to use my credit card for purchases.

I also want us both to be in the Cloud to sync our Contacts across all devices.

Does anyone have a foolproof way of doing this please with a step-by-step guide?

In my post you will see that I did set him up with his own ID but it went haywire.

The link that you sent me for signing in with a different ID will not help because we both want our own Facetime and iMessage but we want to sync Contacts.

The link you sent for Family Sharing will also not help. The main reason being that it does not sync Contacts
