How do I upgrade from iPOD 4 - 8G /ios 6.1.6 to something higher? ios 6.1.6 is the highest software 4th generation does.
Can I upgrade the system or do I have to buy a new iPOD?
I'm not very swift on these matters and would appreciation your help.

If it's a 4th gen iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6 is the latest version. The 5th gen iPod touch (and the current 6th gen model) can run the latest version of iOS.

I guess it means that I would have to buy a new iPOD and cannot upgrade any further.
