Q: saving a new project crashes Logic 9

Having a devil of an issue - saving a new project crashes Logic 9.1.8 - every time - below is the crash log. OS is El Cap 10.11.4.

It doesn't crash when using the default file location but I have a separate drive for media and another for my applications, which I've used for years without any issues. I have a feeling it maybe an El Cap compatibility issue. I've run diagnostics on the drives and both my drives check out. I've run Onyx and ClamX and reinstalled the application. So far no luck. Any assistance greatly appreciated.
