Safari has found a trojan virus (e.tre456_worm_osx).

I thought I was updating my flash player, but apparently instead I installed malware on my iMac. Now whenever I start Safari, I get redirected to a page that looks like it is trying to be Apple Support, but wants me to call (and pay I am sure) to get this virus removed from my computer. I also get this popup notice, "Safari has found a trojan virus (e.tre456_worm_osx) on your Mac. The website I am directed to is http://apple.com-systemnotice.com. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do not go to the website. Download and run MalwareBytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC. It gets rave reviews and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac.

It's nothing more than one of thousands of similar scam pages. Force Quit Safari. Hold the shift key down and relaunch it.

Edit: macjack's suggestion is more the likely scenario since you installed a fake Flash installer. Whatever it installed is now repeatedly directing you to a scam site. A Force Quit and shift relaunch is not likely to fix it.
