Which apps are safe to remove in the "Other" storage on my Mac?

Hello:

Hope you guys can help me. I am almost out of disk space (13.8 out of 120.5). The "Other" Category seems to be taking up a great deal of my storage. Here's what I have in the "other" storage. Please tell me if I can delete the following:

Adobeflashplayer_19_a install.dmg (on 9/30/15)

Adobeflashplayer_17_a install.dmg (on 4/14/15) (3 of these, on the same day)

Adobeflashplayer_16_Hrosxd_aaa-aih(1).dmg (on 1/16/15) (2 of these, on the same day)

epson16661.dmg (on 10/8/14) (I didn't own a Mac until last year, so where does the 2014 thing come into play?)

epson15207-2.dmg (on 9/26/14) (3 of these on the same day)

jre-**31-macosx-x64.dmg (on 2/11/15)

Is it possible for me to delete the installers? How can I free up my disk space? I've moved just about everything except 2 docs from my documents, and really cleaned the thing out. It went from 4.2 up to 14 and change, but still it's not enough. What else can I do?

Thanks

Rachael

Yes, you can delete the installers, unless you think you may need them. Also, have a look at Omni DiskSweeper. Omni DiskSweeper can show you the precise size and location of all your files. It will inventory your disk starting from the files that take up the most space. It can also give you a more accurate read of disk space than Finder or Storage Tab of About this Mac. If you want you can even delete files from OmniDisk Sweeper.

Understand what OTHER represents:

it is a poorly named category that includes items that do not fit in the other categories. Do not dwell on it's name. Just look at the actual items that are present there.

Echoing macjack (partially) download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. Transfer to an external HDD the files you do not want on your Mac or delete them.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for additional data.
