Q: iPod Classic Toyota Camry Playback issues
I recently traded in my 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid for a 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid. In my old Camry I could charge my iPod Classic while listening to it through the usb port. In the 2016 version of the Toyota Camry, not only does the unit not charge, but it also freezes up constantly. Is there something I can do to fix this?
I rent cars often and I have plugged my iPod Classic into many different cars and it works fine. The only time I've ever had problems with my iPod Classic is in my 2016 Camry. Please help.
iPod classic, iOS 2.x

You should review the user guide for the car's audio system, to check the list of supported devices.
NOTE: In modern car audio systems, the connected device acts as a storage device for song files. The car audio system is doing the song playing, by accessing the iPod as a storage device. The iPod is not playing through the car audio system. The iPod serves the same purpose as a cheap USB flash drive with song files, when connected to the car audio system's USB port.
If you have not already, do a Reset (restart) on the iPod.
Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support (see section iPod with a click wheel)
If that does not help, in case there is data corruption on the iPod that causes the "freeze" issue when the car audio system tries to access the iPod as a storage device, you may want to do a Restore on the iPod using iTunes. This erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings.
