If you are talking about connecting the ATV to the television this requires an HDMI lead. You can't do it wirelessly. The ATV can be connected to your router by either wifi or ethernet.

I bought a model A1625 and also need to get a TV to use with the Apple TV but I don't know if I need to make sure the new TV includes anything special to make the best use of the ATV. It's a gift for my daughter and I have never used ATV so I want to be sure the TV I choose gives her all of the options for using ATV.  There are many options on new TV's like built in browser and HDMI inputs, etc. and I just wondered if there is something particular I need to be sure is included on the TV.

All you need is an HDMI port, the browser and similar functions are part of the smart tv feature, which has no bearing on Apple TV. Better to save money and forgo the smart TVs as the Apple TV will do the same, and more. If your daughter has other things that will need to be plugged via HDMI  (I.e. DVD/Bluray player, game console, receiver etc) or you want to play it safe then look for a TV with a number of HDMI ports.
