Q: Problems with text messaging...

Hi, this may be a feature or a bug. Maybe someone will know the answer. I have a new Apple Watch. Everything is up-to-date and is working well, except for text messaging. It seems I can text people in my favorites list only if they have an iPhone. I press the button under the digital crown, the friends list appears, I then pick my son (who has an Android), and send him a canned text message. It appears to be sent, but I never get a reply. I then go to the messages app, pick my son from the contact list for a recipient, add a message, and then send it. It actually sends and he gets it.

It it true that the friends list text messaging only works when the recipient has an iPhone?
