Q: Where is my memory going?

Over time, without me doing anything the stored memory in my iPhone 6s Plus is shrinking. My phone had 29gb of free storage, but after a couple of days, it went down to 23.8gb. No extra text messages, pictures being taken, and my safari cache had been cleared out. Just almost 6gb of storage gone. I wiped my phone and did a restoration backup and once that was complete, it went back up to 29gb. But again, over time, it'll slowly shrink. What is going on and what it taking my storage? And in case anyone was wondering, I am using the latest iOS version.

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.3.1

    Hello 1life1love1king,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are not sure why the storage on your iPhone is using the space that it is. To begin to understand your iPhone storage, I recommend reading over and working through the information in the following articles. This will help you identify what resources are using your iPhones storage.

    Have a great day!

Most apps carry their own cache data or "documents & data" as well. Facebook is a great example of this. The app size is 116MB, and it is presently holding 490MB of space for its other relevant data. Crazy right? Tons of apps do this to increase the responsiveness of their apps. Joe listed some excellent articles as well for understanding more.  Also, check that you don't have 9.3.2 sitting in wait to be installed on your phone as that will take up storage until you install the packet.

    Best of luck
