Well....there are a LOT of factors you are leaving out. Is this footage HD? What codec of HD?
How did you convert it before you sent it to DVD Studio Pro? FYI, DVD Studio Pro will make SD DVDs. So going from HD to SD will reduce the sharpness of the footage. Now, DVD SP does make HD DVDs...but in a format that lost out to BluRay, so pretty much useless...nothing other than Macs can play the discs back.
The best way to prepare a project for DVD SP is to export a Self Contained QT file (or Ref QT if you will only use it to make this DVD)...take that into Compressor and use one of the DVD Best QUality presets. Then take the two resulting files into DVD SP for authoring.
