How can you save photos in shared albums in bulk?
My son is sharing 200+ photos with me in a shared album. I want to be able to save them all to my Mac hard drive or iCloud storage.
How can I do this in bulk?

You state you have OS X 10.8.2 - Is that correct? what version of iPHoto?
With the system you state you have you can not use iCloud Photo Sharing - see iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ - Apple Support
With the current software (El Captain OS X 10.11.5 and Photos 1.5 you open the shared album, select the photos you want to save, right click and select "import" to import them to Photos - if you want them out of photos then select them in Photos and export (file menu ==> export) to the desired location
