Tethering query
Is it possible to use an iPhone to tether an iPad to the Internet in the absence of a WiFi connection? I've tried it but the iPad doesn't seem to "see" the iPhone despite having Personal Hotspot turned on.
Thanks.

Thanks.
You carrier has to support the Hotspot and if so it should work.
Share your Internet connection with Personal Hotspot - Apple Support
My carrier does support tethering but despite following the instructions my iPad doesn't see my iphone but does see my Android phone when I use that phone as a hotspot.😕
On the iPad - Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then try to connect again.
Try a Forced Restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything.
Also please try to reset the Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.
You will lose the info for the previously connected networks but this step often resolves issues.
TThe iPad is now seeing the iPhone but when I enter th password it unable to join the network.😊
Did you set a new password for the Hotspot feature? You can always edit it on the phone.
Yes, it's my usual password.
Change it and try again... also reset the Network Settings.
still no luck.. When I enter the password it alternates between "incorrect password" and cannot connect to network.
Do a forced restart on both devices, then change the pw to the hotspot on the phone, and try again. Otherwise about all that is left is a system restore.
Still the same. On which device should I do a system restore? I've only got the iPhone today BTW.
If you only got the iPhone today how did you do and test all that I recommended above???
Sorry but I don't understand the question?
I misunderstood. If the iPhone is brand new I would not do a restore. I would take it back to the store and ask them about it. The fact that the Android works with the iPad tends to indicate that the issue is with the new iPhone and since it is new I would get the store to either restore it or configure it for hotspot for you. A restore may or may not work and the issue could be hardware related.
OK. Many thanks for your help.
