Ok, If permitted, I’m going to post this question in a couple places.
I’m a musician of some 45 years, new to Midi. Maybe its just me, but I cannot seem to find the basic, physical instructions on how to use a Midi foot pedal controller to change synth voices in an iPad(3).
Here’s the set-up so far:
Guitars, all kinds
Yamaha PSS-970 Keyboard with Midi in/out/through 5 pin
All cables, adapters, gender benders
Microphones (all kinds)
Headphones (all kinds)
iPad (3)
Midi guitar App
Midi sampler App
ME Midi Sampler App
Garage Band (app) for initial testing
Behringer is202 Docking station with 2 channel Multi Mic. Guitar, line in, RCA Stereo in, 5 Pin Midi in and out, and USB Midi (not for ipad control).
Behringer FCB1010 Foot Pedal Controller
(On the side, but not intended for stage: Tower PC’s, PC Laptops and an EEEpc, iPhone and iMac OS X)
AS OF POSTING HERE”S WHERE I AM, and am stuck:
I have Midi Guitar activated, and with my voice, guitar or any other analog source, can trigger notes and voices in Midi Sampler, ME Midi Sampler or Garage Band through the is202 in’s or the iPad’s 1/8” headphone/mic jack (simultaneously) WONDERFUL.
I can also, CONCURRENTLY, trigger voices in all three apps via my Yamaha PSS-970, Midi out to the is202 Midi in (5 pin) YAYYYYYYYY.
ONE STEP LEFT BUT STUCK
I CANNOT figure out how to use the Yamaha, or the new Behringer FCB1010 to CHANGE VOICES in the apps.
I want to be able to be playing guitar, singing, and hit a foot pedal switch and my guitar becomes piano…but IDEALLY – a barking dog, or cat, or applause in the iPad app’s voices.
Help please?
- P.S. Garage Band is only of choice for testing, and I realize it has no control outward, and limited in. But changing voices seems basic?! Mainstage? Albeon? (sp), Logic Express?
Ultimately, I need a sampler (to create my own voices), and some type of virtual synth/keyboard to verify them, then the ability to assign the voices in the FCB1010. I would love to have one show set be guitar and various animals selections. A second set my guitar is a piano and sounds that are industrial, etc.
