White background - no Photos in Photo- Bug?

Hi, as you can see below I'm experiencing this odd bug in Photos app on my Mac OS X El Capitan.

Some of my old photo in my collection appear like this (even if they are present in my iPad and in my 2 iPhones). What is happening?

How can I solve this?

Thanks

Hi, no, all is synced and in the Photo preferences I don't see anything left to be synced.

Also all the latest pic I took are already there and visible.

There are a lot of white spots if I go back in time, some visible, others are not. 😟

We seem to be in different timezones, ContinoA, sorry.

What happens, when you click one of the white thumbnails to enlarge it?

Is just the thumbnail white, or do you get an error, that the original image file is missing?

If you can enlarge the photo, select several white thumbnails at once and try to recreate the thumbnails by rotating the photos back and forth. Enter first ⌘R to rotate the photos, wait until you are seeing the rotated thumbnails, then rotate back with ⌥⌘R (option-command-R). Rotating is the one editing option, that is lossless and can be applied to multiple photos at once.

If you cannot enlarge the photos, the originals may be missing. Open your iCloud page in a browser - go to www.icloud.com , sign in with your AppleID, then open the Photos.app there. Check if the originals of your missing photos are in iCloud at all. Are they?

No worries.

When I double click a photo it opens and enlarge but it remains white. 😕

So supposely the file is there.

In fact, when I open icloud.com and go to Photos they are all there, visibile and with the chance to open them.

What this could be?

Check, if the photo is also white, when you use the command "File > Export > Original file". Open the exported file in preview. Does preview show the file correctly?

If yes, delete the white version, empty recently deleted an reimport the exported file. Does Photos now show it correctly?

If the exported original is also white, download the photo from www.icloud.com and check, if Preview and Photos can open the downloaded version.

I cannot export the original file.

If I try to export the JPEG one it gives me: Error Unknown 1.005.

Sound strange.

Is there a way to rebuild the local collection from scratch?

Or other solutions?

That means that the original files of the photos are not readable or Photos cannot find them.

Have you checked, if the originals can be downloaded from www.icloud.com?

You could repair the Photos Library, but that will not help, if the photos are indeed missing are corrupted, and it will cause all photos to upload to iCloud Photo Library again. It might damage, what is currently in iCloud. I would not risk that, before you checked, if you can download the originals from iCloud and save them to a folder on your Mac.
