When I want to edit a RAW image to photoshop CS6 I can see the image in the layers palette, but it shows up as either total black or total white in the document. I have done this many times before and it was fine, don't know why the age is not showing in the document. Hope someone can help!

You state that you have OS X 10.5.1 - is that correct? What version of Aerture? Exactly step by step how are you exporting to PS CS6

Which preferences have you set for the external editor in the Aperture Freferences > Export panel?
I have OS x 10.10.5.....Aperture is 3.6...I select the image and then click on... Photos.. then..Edit with Photoshop CS6. It has ALWAYS worked before
I have set the Preferences in Aperture like this:
When I select an image and use "Photos > Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS6" it will open a black image, but Aperture is creating a new thumbnail for the edited version. the results are random. The same photo will open fine in CS6 after I try to export the original to the Desktop. At first the export does not work, but after trying a second time, all of a sudden all photos from the sam project will open in Photoshop.
It may be a problem of a library corruption. Try to repair the aperture library: Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
