What is the latest version of Safari?

Why is it not possible to find what the latest version of Safari is? Is there an official list somewhere? I need to know the number without upgrading.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Hi ..

An alternative way to see which version of Safari is currently installed is to go to your Applications folder then right or control click the Safari app then click Get Info.

The version is noted there.

You can have updates installed automatically if you wish.

Open System Preferences> App Store then select Automatically check for updates.

Or, you can click: Check Now anytime.

The version of Safari available to you is enirely dependent on your Operating System. So, if you ave a three year old OS, you are limited to that older version of Safari. If you keep your Mac updated, your Software Update will always tell you if you have an update. I just rely on what I find in the App Store > Updates Available.

I never opt to have updates/upgrades done automatically. There are some updates, i have no interest in -- for instance, I do not use Garageband. So I don't need the updates.
