Q: switching iphones without losing data

My wife passed away last year and I want to transfer my iPhone profile and apps to her phone and transfer her stuff to my old 5. How can I do this so I don't lose her contacts, text messages, voicemails etch or lose mine? I've looked at possible solutions on this site, but I'm so worried about losing this data. Both phones have the latest iOS update. Can anyone help?

Basically you backup both phones to iTunes following the instructions here.
How to back up your devices using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

Then you erase both phones like you were going to sell them.
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then you restore the proper backup to phones. Before you do anything make sure there is enough storage on each phone to handle the data, i.e., if your 6 is 64GB and is nearly full, the data will not fit into a 32GB iPhone 5.
