Q: Iphone 6 camera not working for pictures only

iPhone 6 camera has intermittent fault where both front and rear cameras will not take/save photos but will work with video. You press the button to take the photo and it appears to register the button press (i.e. if you hold the button it counts all the rapid shots it should be taking) but does not save any of the photos. Sometimes closing the app works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes rebooting the phone works, sometimes it doesn't. The problem seems to resolve itself after time. Sometime it works perfectly for days. It is odd that even when the photo option is not working, I can record and save videos. The screen is not black and it looks likes it is working fine until you go to press the button.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Hello Ipadencrypt,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that your iPhone will periodically fail to save photos taken, but it will save videos taken on it.  Since this is a random occurrence, I'd like you to please reinstall iOS on your iPhone.  This will just replace the system data, but keep all of your personal data in tact.

    1. Connect your device to a computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, you can borrow one, or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
    2. While your device is connected, force it to restart. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Don't release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the Recovery mode screen.
    3. When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

iTunes will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3 again.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t turn on

    Have a good one.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, it did not work. I can give you further information that may help locate the problem. It just stopped working now and I noticed that the flash also does not work (including if you try to manually turn on torch). I tested a separate camera App and it worked fine - took the photo and saved it. Therefore, it must be the iphone camera software that is the issue. I have restored/updated the phone software as you suggested with no luck.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

I have exactly the same problem like you. How did you solve this problem?

System reset or restore did not work for me too.

    Thanks
