How to Retrieve an Unsaved Word Document on Macbook Air?

Hi everyone,

I was working on a named word document on 3 March 2016, and accidentally clicked Do Not Save. I have since been trying to retrieve the lost data but with no success. I have tried to re-type the documeny but it was not the same. Is there anyone who can assist me to retrieve my work? It is very important. I am also not too familiar with Time Machine (have never used it) and other technical Mac stuff.

I would really appreciate the help, thanks!

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

Can unsaved Word or Excel file be recovered on Mac?

It's difficult to give an accurate answer about this question. If the Word/Excel file hasn't been saved before, it will be difficult for the users to recover it. Here're some advices that may be helpful for users to recover the Word/Excel files that have been saved before.

1. Check Mac trash and find a folder which is named 'Recovered items'.

2. Find "Word Work File" files in "Temporary items" folder by typing "/private/var/folders ". Users can probably get the files back.

Maybe you can try uFlysoft Data Recovery for Mac, it can recover LOST DATA on Mac only in three steps:

Step 1. Launch the software to scan the device where your files deleted

Step 2: Preview the scan result files and make mark if it is the one you find

Step 3: Recover files
