I bought a 6s from an estate auction. I tried to reset the phone as directed by Apple it did not work. The phone is protected by a 6 digit code and possibly fingerprint. The auctioneers did not know what was needed. Can you help? more

May 17, 2016 5:28 AM in response to Tefitaby raymond73,Without the original owners credentials you may not be able to use the phone. You can try doing a restore using iTunes to eliminate the passcode. If the restore asks for your Apple ID then you need the previous owners credentials. You might be be able to get paperwork from the auction company showing that you purchased the device legally and take that information to the Apple store. If Apple agrees with you then they can reset the Apple ID for the device. Good luck. If Apple will not cooperate then you have a brick and would need to ask the auction company for your money back.
