Q: LPX & Elcapitan

Since upgrading to OSX 10.11.5. LPX hangs indefinitely when trying to load up a project at start up, so I have to force quit.

My work around has sometimes worked by finding the file in user-music- logic and clicking on it to start up. When this doesn´t work then I fire up Logic and choose an empty project,  after a long wait it appears. From there I select a template and select either "recent or open" to find a project which loads after a waiting period.

This NEVER happened with earlier OS´s All my programs and OSX are up to date. Imac is well within the systems and compatibility ranges required for running my programs and third party plugins without latency issues.

It seem as though LPX´s search engine is incompatible with El Capitan... strange ..since Logic is an Apple program!!

Please respond if anyone has had similar experiences and hopefully a solution

You're rare, as Logic Pro X 10.2.2 runs very well on El Capitan.  All three Macs in our studio run really well, plus those of my clients.  In fact, LPX actually launches in a fraction of the time it used to.  I'd look at other things.

Verify your system drive (and all other drives) have at least 15% of total capacity as free space.

Run the Disk Utility app and run First Aid on all drives.

Get a copy of Disk Warrior and repair the directories on all drives.

You may want to do a reinstall of LPX.  And verify that all of the Additional Content is installed.

If you've upgraded form an earlier versions of LPX and OS X,  you'll need to rescan your plugins, too.

Straaange!!..I Had a new 3TB.HD installed with ElCapitan already installed by the Apple dealers workshop, and spent 4 days re-installing everything and not from backup..2.4 TB available..I always have 5.36GB free memory when starting up LPX.

Done all the disk verifications and first aid several times, ..use Cleanmymac to clear junk and maintenance.

My Imac is a "24"inch 3.065 GHz intel core 2 duo and 8 GHz 1067 DDR3 memory.. old but well within the requirements.

I´m happy to hear that LPX functions properly in your and your customers machines.. could it be something  to do with my third party plugins.. Steven Slater through Gobbler, and Toontracks, and Sonnoxford. Antares++ ?

There have been many reports on this board of CleanMyMac (and Onyx as well) causing OSX and Logic problems. I -don't know- if that's the case but I wouldn't use those type of programs on my machine One version of CleanMyMac removed a file that Logic's expects to see and caused all kind of problems.

Well well well. Cleanmymac does sometimes behave strangely and perhaps it worked better with earlier OS´s..I shall uninstall it.. did you have to re-install LPX to retrieve the missing file??

As I recall, it was an operating system file that LP expected to see, and this was sometime back, like i said, not sure if that's your problem but I do know that CleanMyMac has caused Logic/OSX problems before. It may be fine for generic systems that don't have Pro software, pro hardware (MIDI, Audio...etc) installed.

I would reboot the computer, don't run anything else except Activity Monitor before starting Logic. See if you can see a program or background service/task grabbing a bunch of CPU.

This is my problem in full. I´ve even tried uninstalling CleanMymac but the problem persisted.

Logic Pro X starts up quickly but when choosing a saved project it hangs. I force quit at least 3 times before it manages to open the project. The problem is reported in the Console Logs. where the second warning is more often than the first:

    KONSOLL  LOG ….(Norwegian language)

warning: 140 This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release. Also, this makes the hosting compatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition to  the API´s in a

    AudioComponent.h.

    WindowServer:

common_reenable_updates were finally reenabled by application Logic Pro X after 14.52 seconds [10.07fps] (server forcibly re-enabled them after1.00 seconds [1.00]]

HOW DO I… «Please transition to  the API´s in a

How can I resolve this problem???

One or more of your third party plugins must be incompatible, you will have to try moving them out of the components folder one at a time.

Logic 9 used to have a key command sequence that would bypass failed audio units or audio units that were causing problems. Atleast you might be able to figure out which plugins are causing the problem. Did all your plugins scan when running Logic for the first time on the new system?
