My iPhone 5 shuts off on its own, boot loop, battery stays the same while charging

HI everyone. I need serious help on my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS.

Last night, I saw that the phone has turned off on its own. I cannot turn it on because my lock button is broken, so I had to plug it somewhere for it to turn on. Strangely after that, it turned off again. I can use the phone while it was charging, and so I filled it up to 100% then unplugged, then it began to shut off again.

That night, I did Reset All Settings. I thought it worked, for my phone lasted until the very next morning. I was able to use it until it began to shut off again.

I plugged it onto the computer, and Restored from Backup. Before that, though, I was in a boot loop. The only way I got out of it is to hold the Home button while plugging the Lightning connector on my phone and onto the computer USB. The restore went successful but the moment I unplugged it from the computer, it turned off.

And so now I'm writing this on my iPhone, it is plugged in. Only thing is that it's been at 41% for so very long.

Please help me. I'm so frustrated for this is the only phone I have. Is the solution as simple as getting the Lock button fixed so I could do a hard reboot?

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I cannot do the hard reboot since my lock button is broken, and I already did Restore from Recovery Mode. It's still doing the same thing, turning off and not turning back on. I also noticed that my phone is also turning off when it is connected to the charger. And my signal bar shows "No Service" when in fact it had always been showing five bars in my exact location.

I am really confused but I will go out today and ask for help and maybe change the battery. I just hope that it's the battery and not anything else.

Hi, thank you for the help! I got my battery replaced in one of the shops here. Not Apple-certified shops, really, so basically it voided the warranty and all but my warranty's expired a long time ago. My phone has been opened so many times now because of a battery-related issue. Kinda crazy.

Anyways, just here to confirm that yes, it is a battery issue. Even the guy who replaced my battery said it's because the battery can no longer hold a charge on its own, so it relies on the charger. To anyone else having this problem, get your battery replaced by Apple (if you still have warranty) or somewhere else for a cheaper price. Hope that helps. Thank you again!
