Q: can I auto backup iphone 6 after using iphone 5 for a few months between?

Hi, I'm using my old iphone 5 because my 6 is broken .  I didn't back up either phone to the computer for months, I now have the 5 on auto backup.  I'm really hoping my 6 will work again because I have messages and photos on there I want to see still.  If my 6 works again can I auto backup with that or will the crossed information confuse it?  I used my 5 pre June 2015 and then from Feb 2016 and my 6 was June 2015 to Feb 2016.  Hope that makes sense.
